SPEAKERS – Hayley Smith-Rose, Becca Howard
GUESTS – Jenni, Kevin, Ali, Kayla

Hayley  00:04
For some reason you’re listening to Fever Dream Diaries yet again. Last week we unpacked only half of our high school reunion. So you know, we saved the best stuff for part two. Let’s get into it. Episode Nine. Becca I gotta say, I’m still running high off the reunion, that was such a hoot and a holler. And obviously, we went into it with all of these hopes and dreams. And I feel like no pun intended. Actually, you no pun intended with the dream. I think the reunion turned out even better than we could have imagined. And it’s time to bless them. I think with arguably one of our best interviews we ever could have done

Becca  00:48
Absolutely. The madam president herself.

Hayley  00:51
We got Jenni Cardin-Smith in the dream machine.

Becca  00:56
That’s her real name.

Hayley  00:57
That is her real name. And you know what, we love her we have nothing negative to say about her. So we’re just gonna throw her name out there and her voice but before we get into her interview, Becca, could you regale us with how this came about?

Becca  01:12
Let’s paint the picture of the night this point. We’ve interviewed our friends. We’ve gotten Dennis we’ve gotten Valerie on and I’m going down to the bathroom just to freshen up. It’s probably like, I’d say 9pm

Hayley  01:24
It was long. And it started at like five.

Becca  01:29
Hayley and I did not drink because we knew we had a job to do. We were sober and ready. Yes, we could not have gotten this done if we were not. And I think it helped that most of our colleagues and friends were partaking in the beverages so they were a little more loose. But as I was heading down to the bathroom, I see Jenni and all her glory. Love her. She looks you know, elegant and beautiful. Obviously, she is holding everyone back from the bathroom. I’m not allowed to go in there. And I don’t know what’s going on. But I find out later, somebody – not one of our peers from the class but somebody brought a date – got really sick, really sick. Bless her heart. She got sick all over the bathroom. This was kind of the vibe of the night it was like it was not okay.

Hayley  02:15
People are doing things in the bathroom that they shouldn’t be doing at 30 anymore probably.

Becca  02:22
Let’s just say there was some powder on. So literally Jenni holding the throngs of people back from this bathroom. Everyone’s trying to see what’s going on. And she is cleaning up. She still has the President energy. And she was the one who you know, booked this whole thing right with her friends I have to give shoutouts to Louise and Sandra. They deserve this. They’re amazing people. So we’re only singing the best praises.

Hayley  02:55
Yes we’re only changing names for people who need it.

Becca  03:00
So they’re still doing great. We can confirm everyone there is doing great. And let’s just get into our interview with Jenni.

Hayley  03:09
I also wasn’t sure if I was going to throw this in here as well. But I really thought it was magical that when we were walking to the vehicle to interview Jenni, a car pulls up a bunch of girls, we also went to high school with a girl’s mom, I know it kind of was but they were going to some type of after party and they kind of pull up on the three of us and are like Jenny, are you coming to the after party?

Becca  03:33
They didn’t think she was well, they thought we were kidnapping did and I understand the concern

Hayley  03:37
Yeah, to be fair, you know, but what a satisfying feeling when she was like, No, I’m going with these girls and I’m doing their podcast, you go to the after party. I’m doing something important

Becca  03:48
And they just left and they didn’t know what to say they didn’t know. We also I used to be friends with those girls in like elementary school. So it’s like a full circle. Shout out.

Hayley  04:00
Let’s not feel bad. I don’t mean to like sound like I’m talking down on them. But it just felt kind of cool that the President was coming to hang out with us the people who did win. Jenni you are a freakin saint. And with that being said, here is what she had to say.

Reunion Interview 3 – Jenni

Becca  04:21
We are here with Miss President. Madam President.

Hayley  04:25
Oh, Jenni Smith. First of all, thank you for planning such a great reunion. What was this process like?

Jenni  04:36
Honestly, it was fucking hell. This is such a charged topic. It’s so funny to see what high school brings out in people.

Hayley  04:51
So what have you seen. Will you dive into that more?

Jenni  04:54
I’ve seen a lot of angst and a lot of The anger towards me and my fellow class officers. Oh, you know what we – Sandra, Louise, and I – made a commitment 12 plus years ago and for the people that are interested in coming, we’re gonna stand by that and we’re gonna get them the best reunion that they can get.

Hayley  05:23
And Jenni, I gotta say you’ve done a great job. Like this event has been really awesome. I’m not even just saying that because we’re recording or on camera, like we’ve had a freaking blast, we’ve been having so much fun. So thank you because I know, a lot of work and you don’t have to do that. Like when you’re 18 you don’t plan on being 30 and like having to do this type of shit, right?

Jenni  05:41
No, and like we had originally planned for 2020 And obviously, it didn’t happen. Right? So 2012 It is 2022 We’re like whatever. It’s it’s interesting, because I’m actually getting married in a week. I had never planned to to plan my class reunion and my wedding. And it’s happening. After tonight I’m gonna feel like a million times better to focus on but yeah, it’s been, it’s been a little stressful.

Hayley  06:21
Well, you did an amazing job. So feel good about that. But let’s talk about you as president for a moment. When did you first become president? Was it just a year or multiple years?

Jenni  06:32
I don’t know if you remember

Hayley  06:36
I can promise you we remember because we remember everything

Jenni  06:46
My first boyfriend freshman year. We broke up. And he was the freshman class president so the end of freshman year. I actually ran against him as class president when we were broken up and he was so butthurt that he ended up going to BG

Hayley  07:27
Wait, Jenni, you’re such a bad bitch for that. I didn’t realize you stole the presidency

Jenni  07:40
But I have much love for you wherever you are these days. But we broke up and I did run against you as vice president and I did win again junior and senior year

Becca  08:09
So full circle.

Hayley  08:12
Jenni, let me welcome you to why this is such an amazing fact to hear. So I don’t know if you remember. But I actually ran for freshman class president. I would have bet my life I was gonna win and Becca ran for secretary.

Jenni  08:34
I vaguely remember that? And it was like all men who won. And I just remember thinking, no, no, no, no. No. And I felt a lot of like, pride in my school. Yeah. And like, honestly, I love public school and love Nashua North. And like, even 12 years later, I have a lot of pride no matter what the haters say. Yes. Um, and I just felt like, God bless him, I hope Wow. But I just felt like he wasn’t the guy to run for three years.

Hayley  09:25
Jenni you know what? the only thing that gives me peace and losing to your ex boyfriend is the fact that you and him broke up and then ran against his ass and won. that is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever heard.

Jenni
Yeah, thank you for that. I did do that.

Hayley
Okay, Jenni. We have known each other since elementary school. Any memories stick out about Becca or I from high school days?

Jenni
Can I be honest?

Hayley
Yeah, be honest. Brutally Honest.

Jenni  09:55
Becca always had the greatest tits

Hayley  09:57
the biggest and most voluptuous

Jenni  10:01
Great, beautiful. So my I was raised as Jenni Smith. My mom’s last name is Cardin so I eventually hyphenated it. But I always thought we may have been long lost cousins

Hayley  10:17
because we’re Smith hyphens! just tell people we are. Me and Jenni Cardin Smith are actually related by blood. There’s nothing anyone can do to prove that’s not true

Jenni  10:29
Yep. And my dad says, he’s a diver. Yes. He visits the Isles of Shoals, and he is very committed to the fact that we are descendants from John Smith who founded the Isles of Shoals off of Massachusetts and and New Hampshire.

Hayley  10:48
Wow! Very cool. And then so am I.

Jenni  10:51
Yeah, apparently so we’re obviously descendants of the same John Smith from Pocahontas.

Becca  10:54
Does this mean Hayley can run the jewelry store with you?

Jenni  10:59
Honestly, come. Come with me. Please. I need help at the jewelry store

Hayley  11:06
Yeah, look out for that.

Becca  11:09
Like, “we just found out your cousins. And now we’re going to manage a jewelry store together!”

Hayley  11:14
Thank you for crawling into the back of Becca’s car and not even questioning us and just doing this with us. you’re the class president and we have royalty in the vehicle.

Jenni  11:24
This is really exciting. And also I feel like you’re royalty. You’re on the radio station. Thank you for doing this.

Hayley  12:06

I got so much love for Jenny Cardin-Smith after that, Becca. Like, such a great moment, you know? I went to elementary school with her. I’ve known her forever. And that was the most bonding we really got to share. And that was a really special experience. I love her and can’t wait to see her at the next reunion.

Becca  12:21
I know. And I’ve known Jenni since middle school. She’s always been like the kindest person. She’s a sweetheart. I’m honestly honored that she remembered me at all, especially my tits

Hayley  12:31
And she loved those titties. And we love Jenni for that. Speaking of elementary school, we also ran into the Kevin Rosenberg at the reunion. Yeah, we’re just using names at this point

Becca  12:46
He’s another Nashua celebrity himself. Like, he doesn’t even need an introduction.

Hayley  12:51
Oh, my God, that is true. So let’s keep this one brief. Kevin was vice president of our class now he wasn’t senior year I think just freshman year. He was freshman year though the year that we tried to get the Quad Threat in there. He was part of that. So you know what we had to question him a little bit about that situation. So here’s what he and his lovely girlfriend Mary had to say.

Reunion Interview 4 – Kevin

Hayley
We’re broadcasting live from the backseat back is van once again, we have introduce yourselves.

Mary
Alright, I’m Mary

Kevin  13:21
And I am Kevin.

Hayley  13:25

And Kevin here. We’ve actually known each other for many, many years since birth. So what’s crazy about Mary is you guys met after high school. So I’m curious, Mary, what do you know about Kevin from high school days?

Mary  13:39
I know he had frosted tips, I think yes. And I think that’s about it.

Hayley  13:50

Honestly. Yeah.

Becca  13:55
Now Kevin, were you potentially pass officer at any point?

Kevin  14:00
Freshman year I was the vice president and I was part of Senate for a little while. I don’t exactly remember when I stopped being involved a little bit

Hayley  14:08
When you ran for vice president freshman year. Kevin, what was your mission? What did you want to bring to Nashua High School North that no one else could?

Kevin  14:15
Honestly, I just wanted the leadership position. I thought that would be something that was appealing to me. And I just wanted to make it fun for years and I thought we got off to a decent start. But no, I wasn’t reelected, which is fine. The people spoke which is completely fine. But I found other ways to contribute.

Hayley  14:37
If it makes you feel better at all, Becca and I both ran for class officer positions freshman year and clearly lost. So we’re actually putting you in the back of this vehicle for different reasons

Becca  15:06
Thank you for clarifying.

Hayley  15:08
What is your best memory from high school?

Kevin  15:11
athletics by far, I was very blessed to have some athletic ability, and I had enough wisdom to use it as well. So my best memories are from football, basketball and track

Hayley  15:22
And you know, that’s right, because the reason we can’t film is because Kevin is so tall that he is literally stretched throughout this entire vehicle.

Kevin  15:33
I’m six foot three.

Hayley  15:35
Bless your heart for getting in the back of the vehicle. And on that note, thank you guys for joining us.

Kevin
Thank you for having us.

Hayley
So Becca, I feel like now that we’ve interviewed Jenny and Kevin, we’ve really had a better look into what was happening with the democracy at Nashua High School north. What do you think about that?

Becca  16:01
It explains a lot about why the Quad Threat did not conquer the school.

Hayley  16:05
I loved how comfortable they both were, as far as spilling tea went in the back of the fever dream machine. I love that thing. This experience just opened our eyes to why it just wasn’t meant to be for us.

Becca  16:20
Yeah, I mean, you know, we also did confirm that all of the class officers who won freshman year were very tall men

Hayley  16:31
maybe that’s why they were voted for maybe the students were like, “those people are in charge.” They’re adults basically at this point, judging by their height so they should be in charge

Becca  16:42
And the fact that Jenni didn’t run freshman year, thank God because then we would have just been like the last person in the ranking, because she’s so clearly meant to be president. No offense.

Hayley  16:52
Yeah, no, it’s true. Becca it’s as hurtful as that is, it’s the true

Becca  16:59
Did she win most likely to succeed?

Hayley  17:03
Remember we looked in the yearbook and the superlatives weren’t in there? which is hurtful, but also probably ideal for me

Becca  17:12
considering you won “biggest gossip”

Hayley  17:15

now have we talked about my superlative? Oh, yeah, we had a whole episode dedicated to our yearbook, but for anyone who missed it, I was biggest gossip in high school. And you know, it did hurt me at the time

Becca
but she made it her job!

Hayley
Period. Okay. Wow, we were in the back with Kevin I think it’s important to know so for a lot of these interviews, in fact, all of them except Kevin’s we’re going to be posting on our social media, the video footage so you can see it. gotta check it out. But Kevin to give you an idea of how tall we’re talking the man was so long that he couldn’t sit in your car so we couldn’t get video of Kevin because there just wasn’t space. He’s a tall man. So if you are wondering why you don’t get to see Kevin Rosenberg that is why, but we still love as tall as he was literally laying and his length was the entire vehicle.

Becca  18:08
It was very uncomfortable for him. You can only see his feet in that footage. it’s very funny.

Hayley  18:12
Oh no, he was such a trooper though. So big shout out to Kevin for that while we had him in the back we got some knocks on the window. Which was a little jarring. Yeah, when we opened the door there was a line back a few people wow this actually warms my heart to think about people started talking and the word was getting around the reunion what we were doing so this line had formed of people who really wanted to be interviewed so God loved them all. We interviewed that group and got some funny things out of that. So here’s just a little solid.

Becca  18:51
Yes. We love these people

Hayley  18:55
Shout out to Mandiie, Nicole, Whitney was there there, was also a lot of people to be honest. I didn’t know their names. it was a big class and this was a big group. Olivia was there Yes. We love you guys. Here’s what they had to say.

Reunion Interview 5: Group

Hayley  22:24
We gotta be honest with you. We held out until past the end of the event. We were the last people there because we were really hoping somehow some way we could get Jane or Cory even though we knew Cory was in Mexico like we had talked about this. We knew Jane was taking care of her newborn baby

Becca  22:46
We couldn’t leave early. We didn’t know where to go.

Hayley  22:49
I’m glad we didn’t know because we literally got to talk to every single person there and I feel like it’s only right to end this episode with the most wholesome interview we could have done. can you tell our listeners a bit about these two, Becca?

Becca  23:05
Yes, our BFFs Kayla and Ali. We’re using their real names. Yes, we love these two ladies. And we were lucky enough to have a nightcap with them. So we say and just invite them to the fever dream machine to catch up and recap some old memories.

Hayley  23:23
It was really beautiful. Both Becca and I have been friends with these two for forever. So this is what feels right in our heart and soul to end this episode with, so with that we bid you adieu, here’s Kayla and Ali broadcasting live from the back seat of Becca’s SUV

Becca  23:39
We’ve got Ali and Kayla.

Hayley  23:48
I have been friends with these bitches forever. So let’s start with high school since we just left the reunion. this is actually our final interview. What was your highlight of the reunion thus far?

Ali  24:00
My highlight of the reunion was Valerie taking us into a random hallway to deliver her secret to us.

Hayley  24:08

A lot of secrets were shared tonight and it was a beautiful thing

Kayla  24:13
Mine was really just reconnecting with Sandra because we were BFFs and we lost connection so it was really nice. It was heartwarming.

Hayley  24:25
That is heartwarming. And what’s special Ali about Valerie secrets is she came into the back of this vehicle and also spilled all her secrets so those will be involved in this production.

Ali
Oh wow.

Hayley
You two have known us both for forever so favorite or weirdest memories including Becca and I?

Ali  24:48
when you told me and Kayla you were a witch. And I believed it for at least six years.

Hayley  24:56
You should still believe in it actually.

Kayla  24:59
Yeah. I mean in today’s world, it’s totally plausible.

Hayley  25:04
I was a trailblazer.

Kayla  25:05
Do you have crystals?

Hayley 25:06

I do have crystals!

Kayla  25:08
You were a trailblazer for sure. Do you have a mortar and pestle?

Hayley  25:12
Um, no, not yet.

Kayla  25:14
That’s a gift idea. I feel like I should share one about you Becca

Becca 25:22
There’s a lot

Becca  25:24
What about like all the times we used to hang out at Birch Hill?

Hayley  25:29
Oh my gosh, you guys used to hang out at Birch Hill?

Kayla  25:31
We took Becca. me and Megan my sister took Becca to Birch Hill because I read on this Facebook group that you could get onto the roof. We wanted to see if there were a bunch of tennis balls up there because you know how those kids would always like throw it on the wall?

Hayley
Yeah, I was one of those kids

Kayla
We made it on the roof. We used my car to get on you know there’s that like overhang? It was definitely, it was definitely legal. We got on the roof. There’s only a couple tennis balls. Yeah, and then when we were getting off my sister fell and dented my car. There was no way to recover. like I just had this huge dent in the roof. But we survived and it was glorious.

Becca  26:14
I found like speaking of weird moments, I found a couple like letters from you guys. Obviously. Let me pull them up

Hayley  26:23
while Becca is finding that if you guys could tell your 18 year old self right now what would you say?

Kayla  26:35
I would say, number one it gets better. Oh yes. And number two, find Aadith Kannan in India.

Becca  26:45
Your soulmate! Go get your man.

Hayley  26:50
Or your girl whatever.

Becca  26:53
I actually definitely didn’t bring these notes, I’m a piece of shit

Kayla  26:57
But now can you remember what it said?

Ali  27:08
This is like very like cliche but I would tell myself that to be brave and that it’ll be okay

Kayla  27:14
You know what I always think about something that you said when we were in high school is somebody asked you what the best thing you do is or something, and you said being a good friend. And that’s true.

Ali  27:31
Yeah, that’s like one thing I think I’ve always liked most about myself

Kayla  27:32
Ali has always been the glue that holds us together.

Becca  27:49
I was just thinking about the cards I was going to bring and Ali you had given me like a birthday card that was like very specific memory about us getting attacked by a man at Subway.

Ali
Oh, that was scary. That was that was frightening

Becca
It must have been like senior year.

Hayley
That sounds like trauma.

Becca
We were just sitting in our car eating subway and like this man taps on the window. And he’s like, “yo you girls are beautiful.”

Hayley  28:21
don’t waste your money on a footlong don’t waste it.

Becca  28:26

And then Kayla I have like a million notes from us at chunky’s. Like we used to write notes every fucking day, because we havd nothing better to do as managers at chunky’s because we were just writing about our weird lives

Kayla  28:39
I’m speaking of just like high school memories. And I know we’ve talked about this before, but like our parents letting specifically our mothers letting us just go to Boston as our fathers weren’t around. So like our mothers, just letting us go to Boston on a school night to go to stay at my sister’s dorm. That’s so cool.

Becca
I know it was really cool.

Kayla
And we were so like responsible. We really were we definitely could have gotten raped

Becca  29:08
Absolutely. I’m so glad we didn’t drink or smoke at those shows. Like we could have easily just gotten ruffied

Hayley  29:14
a really big theme I feel like that Becca and I have discovered in making this podcast is like we were all good fucking kids. We were not doing shit that we shouldn’t have been doing. we were being weird as hell. Oh, yeah.

Kayla  29:34
I was talking to Sandra about how like we while I was talking more about myself because there was a kid in high school who was like, “I don’t like her. She’s just weird.”

Hayley  29:46
I’m extra hurt because it’s someone I liked that said that. I hate him now.

Kayla  29:54
But like that’s the thing is like I feel like all of us were like, unapologetically weird and like true to who we were and like what we liked and we didn’t care like I didn’t care about some guy’s opinion, I was like oh my god him and like Sandra and like we all went to the movies together and I got them in for free to go see Hancock which was a terrible Wilson whatever but anyway I was just gonna say I’m really like off of what you said I’m proud of us for like being who we are and owning it because it made everything more interesting

Hayley  30:30
yes yeah and that’s why a we’re so friends also not to toot our horns but toot motherfucking toot, because we’re thriving. So to the weirdos, live your best life. We love you. Just don’t hurt anyone else. I feel like if you’re just yourself and it’s not hurting anyone else you’re gonna live your best life and you’re gonna bring joy to other people exactly like all of us. That’s a beautiful thing. This is way more wholesome than the rest of our podcast by enjoying enjoying sweet sweet content you guys. love you.
